Idea- Bring the Junto Clubs into a NCAA like conference focusing on revenue through membership and corporate sponsorship. A social responsible club full of people who want to help create ideas to help education, politics, healthcare and many other issues our society faces today!

Create a network of clubs that are membership based and follow the idea of an original thinker, Ben Franklin! It’s all about the Benjamin’s baby! The idea is to create a network of clubs dedicated to responsible entrepreneurs

The Junto was a club for mutual improvement established in 1727 by Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia. Also known as the Leather Apron Club, its purpose was to debate questions of morals, politics, and natural philosophy, and to exchange knowledge of business affairs. They also were a charitable organization who made a subscription public library of their own books.

As of June 7, 2012, a new type of profit corporation will exist in Washington.  For the past two years, the State Bar Association has been working on this law that would allow a corporation’s shareholders and directors to put a social purpose (such as saving the environment or saving the whales) above the purpose of making a profit.  They discussed the need for the law, the different points of the law, and the differences from the “Benefit Corporation” law that seven states have already enacted.

The Secretary of State’s Office participated in these discussions and was happy to support HB 2239.

Registering a Social Purpose Corporation is similar to registering other profit corporations. Here is the fillable form for paper registration.
